Unknown Brood

On Wednesday, July 11th 2001 Dutch rock ‘ n roll legend and painter Herman Brood jumps from the roof of the Hilton hotel in Amsterdam. The way he ended his life is just as extravagant as the way he used to live. By means of his own video material, lyrics and interviews Herman left a little trail to find answers to the questions his dead left behind. This documentary delves into Herman’s past and tries to decipher the messages hidden in this never before seen footage. Documentary maker Dennis Alink also talks to the people closest to Herman and tries to revive the most important moments in Herman Brood’s live. Herman struggled his whole life with being a man or being a legend. On July 11th these to paths crossed.
